Hi, I’m Anthony.

Senior Web Application Penetration Tester / Ethical Hacker & Software Engineer

My Journey in Cybersecurity

I began my cybersecurity journey in March 2020 while pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science at the University of North Texas. The pandemic gave me a lot of free time to explore my interests, including cybersecurity. After graduation, I landed my first tech role as a Java Software Engineer at Citi, where I spent a year before transitioning to an internal penetration testing team. (I’ve come to realize this development role has helped me in cybersecurity more than I initially thought. It’s good to know how applications work through-and-through.)

Over the next four years at Citibank, I grew from an Officer into a Vice President on the Application Vulnerability Assessment team. Along the way I was recognized as the top pentester in the North America region for the number and severity of the high-impact issues I discovered, built custom Burp Suite extensions for my team, and stood up triage processes for Citi’s private bug bounty and vulnerability disclosure programs.

In June 2025, I joined Virtue Security as a Senior Web Application Penetration Tester. My work now spans web and mobile apps, cloud environments, network infrastructure, thick clients, and emerging targets like Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. I also spend a lot of time building internal and open-source tooling and architecting AI-driven automations to push assessments deeper and faster.

I’ve earned certifications like the Burp Suite Certified Practitioner and CompTIA Security+. I’m currently working toward the CPTS, with the OSCP on my radar next, to be a little more well rounded as a tester.

I’ve found a passion in discovering hidden vulnerabilities and helping others become better ethical hackers.

About Me

Beyond my technical pursuits, I make an excellent cup of coffee and consider myself a general outdoorsman. I enjoy rock climbing, backpacking, camping, mountain biking, and exploring the beauty of the national parks I find myself near. When I’m not studying for my next certification, you can usually find me outside or planning my next adventure!

A Few of My Hobbies

  • Fly fishing & fly tying: whether I’m on the water or at the vise, it’s where I unwind.
  • Woodworking: still early in the craft, but something I’d genuinely love to get better at.
  • Homelabbing & automation: a growing obsession that lets me break away from SaaS companies while sharpening my system administration skills, which pays off directly in my pentesting.
  • Cigars & bourbon: a good pour and a slow smoke make for a perfect evening.

I relocated from Texas to Utah in 2023 to embrace the abundant outdoor opportunities. I work from home with my beautiful wife and our beloved cat, April.
